I'm here mostly for a few specific reasons: female companionship, and the blogs and articles. Female-companionship wise, I'm not looking to hook up with a fuck buddy or even an LTR. I'm already in a LTR. Unfortunately, it is a very unsatisfying relationship I'm in, but I don't see an end in sight. There are a few things I really miss. One of them is just being able to have quality, stimulating, intelligent conversations with members of the opposite sex. Hanging out with the guys and shooting the shit just isn't the same. If you'd like to exchange emails or chat, I'm up for it. But I'd also like to actually meet a woman or two close to where I live, so that we could get together on occasion over a cup of coffee or a beer -- whatever. And just talk. That's it. No drama or senseless jabber, please. And politics and religion I'd just as soon avoid. Again, if you're looking for a long-term relationship, I'm not your guy. And while I enjoy sex very much, I really don't feel like putting up with all the games and bs that seem to surround such pursuits. I have better things to do with my time. [B]Things about me you should know:[/B] I ride motorcycles. I have a BA and an MA in Linguistics. My specialty is the Biological Evolution of Language. Unfortunately, an MA in Lx is good for little more than being able to teach Humanities at the Community College level, a job I have yet to pursue. I enjoy language, languages, and language research, but I'm an artist; always have been and always will be. My media are varied. I'm a guitarist and a composer (I've recorded two CDs), a writer and a photographer, and I draw and paint with oils. I love all sorts of music, from classical to country and western. But I absolutely cannot abide hiphop//etc. or metal. I'm politically incorrect and proud of it. I own guns and am an excellent marksman. I don't have much money, but I know how to have fun with what I can afford to spend. I'd rather spend a day at the library or museum than shooting pool or playing video games. If a pretty girl walks by, I [I]will[/I] look. Ain't dead yet.

My Ideal Person My ideal person must have certain minimum qualities:

She must have a good sense of humor, anod not take herself too seriously.
She must be a good conversationalist without being overly opinionated.
She must be at least as smart as I am -- and I'm pretty smart.
She must enjoy companionship.
She must have passion for things she does and for life.
She must have self-respect.
She must be discreet.

There are probably a few more qualities that are slipping my mind. I'll add to the list as they occur to me.
