Despite its temptations, not every arousing connection need consummate in intimacy.

As you point out, other objectives were in play- objectives that could have been compromised if boundaries were blurred with sexy-time. Though not as dire as the potential consequences (legal and financial) of romances with co-workers, it is prudent to maintain a respectful distance in relationships with professional colleagues, clients and contractors.

Sexual desire is ephemeral. The consequences of shoddy or compromised work can be devastating.

Excellently written. Conveying the blend of emotions/desires like you described is very tough, and you did so fantastically.

As for the moral of the story: if you can swing your hammer, you should swing your hammer. Barring moral quandary and truly bad timing, missing such an opportunity impacts how confident you are on the next swing. Landing in the friend zone in such a way is a truly a self-inflicted cruelty.

Professionalism is a rare thing these days. From personal experience, it sucks when professional obligations do not always allow for personal preferences.

Good advice I got early in my career: "It takes a lifetime to build a reputation but a moment to ruin it."

I did have a good break. How was yours?

Same. Of course, many appreciate the reduced volume levels.
