Attention: Changes made to Military Funerals
Attention: Changes made to Military Funerals When I received this email, I could not believe it... So, I checked with Snopes... I learned that is is TRUE: There has been a change in U.S. Military burial protocol! This is a letter that my good friends' husband wrote today after his uncle's funeral yesterday. If Obama does not want his name associated with our military, he does not deserve to be "The President of the United States". Alice Frankovich REMEMBER THIS ON NOVEMBER 6, 2012. Dear Sean, Today, I was incensed that at the conclusion of a traditional Serbian-Orthodox funeral for my beloved 85 year old uncle, Daniel Martich, who proudly served in the US Army during the Korean conflict. During the committal service at a Pittsburgh cemetery the local military detachment performed their ritual, then folded and presented the American Flag to my Aunt. As I'm sure you have witnessed during military funerals, a solder bends to one knee and recites a scripted message to a surviving relative that begins "On behalf of the President of the United States and a grateful nation, I wish to present you with this flag in appreciate for your husband's service...' How ever today, the dialogue was 'On behalf of the Secretary of Defense and a grateful nation...' After the service, I approached the soldier who presented the flag to my aunt to inquire about the change in language. His response was: "The White House notified all military funeral service detachments to immediately remove 'the President' and insert 'the Secretary of Defense'. I couldn't believe what I heard! The soldier just smiled and said, "You can draw your own conclusion, Sir, but that was the order". He, too, was ashamed of what he was required to say. Obama has taken off the gloves. My only response to this endless cesspool of anti-American rhetoric dripping from his mouth is to borrow a phrase "with one minor change" uttered by another temporary Washington resident living in government housing (his wife): "Today for the first time in my adult life, I am ashamed of the current U.S. President!" I did not serve in the military but my love of country parallels that of people like my late uncle who bled red, white and blue. As a second generation Serbian-American who's heritage produced many patriotic military men and women who fought for freedom both in the United Stated as well as in the former Yugoslavia (most recently Kosovo against the slaughter of this this little-known or, at least, publicly acknowledged fact. May God Bless you and your family during these difficult times. Your voice of reason is a welcome change from the insanity plastered across the country by the liberal media. Keep up the great work and thank you for your service to our Country. Sincerely, John G. Martich Weirton, WV PLEASE PASS THIS ON TO FRIENDS AND REMEMBER 2012 IS TIME FOR A NEW PRESIDENT AND COMMANDER IN CHIEF TO BE VOTED ON. |

Dsrespect until just recently was all it seemed the Vietnam Veterans got, and that was a horrific war. That era of military Vets still do not get the credit and honor they deserve, and my fear is that the same will happen to alot of our current returning Vets and/or their families. In my opinion there have already been a multitude of changes tha affect the benefits afforded others. Just recently I read an article in our local newspaper that compared the benefits for our Military and that of the 9.1.1 survivors. Not taking anything away from those who lost their loved ones, and 9.1.1 was a horrible uncalled for incident that took lives and I shall never forget it or where I was at the precise moment I heard about it, BUT the military personnell were serving this country to make all of us in the USA safer and Congress changed up their death benefits to receive pennies compared to what 9.1.1 survivors received. Each was/is a one time unfortunate occurrence.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. Will check it out. But who is to say either is right????? Doesn't everyone throw out their own opinions, and at times twist the true meaning a bit to fit their own thinking? End result, it is totally wrong for our military not to get full credit and honor for what they do for this country, and alot of times, even the ultimate sacrifice. It would be a total disgrace for our returning military veterans to fall into the same situation that our Vietnam Veterans found themselves upon their return home. They did not ask to be sent to Vietnam, and once home lacked the respect in most cases that they should have for serving our country. (Yet another rant here).

That's pretty sad, but it doesn't surprise me much. individual, it seems that he takes much pleasure in embarrassing the American people and putting them them down.

That's appalling Jan...just who the heck does he think he is? These people have risked their lives for their Country...is it beneath him to put his name to the Country's thanks? with that type military activity. But wait till closer time for election in November 2012 and see who is crowing big time that "He single handed brought the fighting to an end and brought the troops home". He will want his OBAMA hand in the mix when it comes to politics.

He seems to exclude himself from anything Americans stand for...and he is our leader??...how sad is that..i think he should be impeached for being Un-American...enjoy your day.. Impeachment sounds like a great idea, and there are many and varied things to justify it. For instance, there has never been any satisfactory passport, birth certificate, college transcript, clear work record that qualifies him, and half his and his wife's family are part of the "take all I can get from the government's programs". It would certainly make sense being the President to show his leadership by being a bit more frugal during such economic hard times, but he excludes himself and his family and allows Congress to do the same.

Surely everyone has a comment on this one, regardless of who made the change, and in this instance it was another "booboo" on the part of the current Commander in Chief.

GOOD BLOG. would not approve. Thought the guy who wrote this letter really wants the word to get out that our Fallen Veterans deserve the same degree of "dignity" that all other Veterans have been given, and the old Standard was that it came from their Commander in Chief always. Does Obama not want the job of Commander in Chief and President of this United States??????

I understand your comments. And you are entitled to your thoughts and opinions, just as I and others are, but IS THIS NOT AMERICA and HE IS COMMANDER IN CHIEF of the ARMED FORCES, or should we change his designations, how would he like that. But one person should not have the authority to change the wording arbitrarily in such a sensitive service that has been a standard last 'farewell to one who has gallantly served'. Just one more thing Obama has shoved down our throats as a means of DISRESPECT.
