THE FIX to the Economy if Mr. President would listen to how:

There recently was an article in the St.
Petersburg, Fla Times. The Business
Section asked readers for ideas on: "How
Would you Fix the Economy?"

I think this guy nailed it?

Dear Mr. President,

Please find below my suggestion for fixing
America's Economy. Instead of giving billions
of dollars to companies that will squander the
money on lavish parties and unearned bonuses,
use the following plan.

You can call it the "Patriotic Retirement Plan",
There are about 40 million people over 50 in the
work force. Pay them $1 million apiece severance
for early retirement with the following stipulations:

1) They MUST retire. Forty million job openings -
Unemployment fixed.

2) They MUST buy a new AMERICAN MADE CAR. Forty
million cars ordered - Auto Industry fixed.

3) They MUST either buy a house or pay off their
mortgage - Housing Crisis fixed.

It can't get any easier than that!!!

P.S. If more money is needed, have all members
of Congress pay their taxes...

Mr. President, while you're at it, make Congress
retire on Social Security and Medicare. I'll bet
both programs would be fixed pronto!

If you think this would work, please forward to
everyone you know.

If not, please disregard.

you are right, common sense does not
usually exist in the middle to lower
class citizens here. No simple 'equity'
for all, congress always looking out for
themselves and their cronies.

    most excellent ideas !!
now you know they will never change their retirement plan !
Think they are excellent too.

No reason their retirement plan should
be structured different that the rest of
us. Let them contribute to their retirement
as they make us throw money into the pot, and
various other aspects should be no different,
fair is fair.

^5, Jan! Sounds like an effective, workable plan to me!
Sure it would work, that's part of the reason
it has not been even considered. The Legislature
seems to want to come up with complex ways to 'fix' things
such as the corporate bail outs, and the common sense
relative to the little man gets left behind, but they
are using our 'little people's money' for years. And
the same rules don't apply to everyone. Seems Congress has
its own set of rules that help them, but harm the little man.

Sure it makes sense, and it seems that our
Legislators have not followed common sense
logic for many years and look where it has
gotten us. But it is our tax dollar they
are using to dole out to the big corporations,
and very little help to the lowly taxpayer.

Most people would agree.
It is frustrating how Govt.
spends so much and helps nothing
for the average taxpayer that is
putting their money up front, and
the politicians dole it out like
corn to the chickens on the farm
to the big corporations etc to keep
them afloat.

Nice idea. Only thing is I already have a new American made truck. Really don't need two. House was paid off years ago. I don't need two of those either.

Sure sounds as thought it could
easily work to help the economy
right now. The concept is great.
