Loud In Bed

Not sounds of ecstasy, but snoring. The man I see on a regular basis and I both snore. It's okay if we fall asleep at the same time (usually, pass out after sex), but if either of us wake in the middle of the night...which at our age, we often do, falling back to sleep when the person next to you is snoring can be very difficult. There are times one of us actually goes into another room to sleep.

I'm sure we are not alone with this dilemma. I wonder how others deal with this issue.

Sometimes I wonder if carrying protection should include earplugs along with condoms.

I am in the construction industry and so try to keep a supply of the ear protection that we use on job sites. I snore and so offer them to my partner.

Not wanting to be in separate rooms, or in some cases not able to, I understand your dilemma. I can usually fall asleep as long as the other snorer isn't shaking the walls...lol. Sometimes a little poke or change in position will quiet things down enough for me to fall asleep.

Just wake the person next to you by saying ,"Did you hear that?" and while they are trying to stay awake to protect you you can doze right off.

I snore really badly, and I know I do need to lose weight/ get more exercise, etc. But I think my #1 issue is oversized tonsils. But they refuse to take them out.

My best friend told me I only snore when I first fall asleep. When I hit REM I'm good. Problem is I'm also a very light sleeper, and a person next to me rubbing his feet together can wake me up. So getting me to and keeping me in REM... I should try a "White noise machine"

I have a white noise app, since my phone is always next to the bed.... it works pretty well to muffle snoring unless it's chain-saw loud! Then you just have to poke him!

Or wear DARTH VADER's mask.

But losing weight and increasing exercises to increase the levels of nitrogen oxide in our blood stream would ease the snoring too.

However Darth VADER's mask is more impressive.

A common cause of snoring is sleep apnea, where the throat muscles relax and air inflow is restricted. Often a person stops breathing for anywhere from a few seconds to almost a minute, then the body catches up with a deep breath resulting in a pretty loud snore/snort. It can be a serious problem if the apnea is severe. The most common fix is a machine called a CPAP (think it means constant pressurized air...something). Not a pretty thing to look at at night, but does make for a more restful...and quiet...sleep. Of course, losing weight and/or quitting smoking, if needed, will improve the condition. A sleep clinic is the best place to check for this condition.
