Mixed Message Do explicit pictures and videos on profiles negate the words expressed on profiles expressing that the individual is looking for more than just a hook up...more than just a sexual encounter? Do people see past them and read what is written? Are people judged by their visual display - both men and women? |

As for disregarding what is blogged (standard members can't read profiles), let us say that what they write has become biased by what they have visually exhibited. Presuppositional thinking -an interesting philosophical excursion.

Obviously, I don't know how others think but for myself, I would much rather be visually enticed by a picture like your lovely pink, a few buttons undone, open blouse than a blatant spread eagle. Yes, men are largely more the visual quester than women, but perhaps its just me, I'd rather, after a time of getting to know one another, after a time of sitting across the table or stealing a glance while out for a walk, find out for myself your hidden charms. Mystery is such an enduring magnet for me. I wish I could sit across the table from you at some quiet hole-in-the-wall eatery with you wearing that satin blouse! Each time you turned your head away from me, would you sense my eyes drinking in your charms? I must admit, men who take pictures of their manhood and display them unobtrusively, I think them to be sexually arrogant players. Women who do the same, I look up them as lonely women who feel that they have to do it to entice men behind their façade. Now these are general assumptions and don't apply to everyone, but for the most part, that is how I react.

If the words and images just don't match, you really have to wonder about the integrity of the profile. A profile is basically an advertisement, so if it makes the reader think negatively, the sale is lost. Craven... always looking for a deal.

Yes, I think people are judged by the visual display. Sometimes the visual does not jive with the words written, so you have to wonder what that person is actually thinking, if at all. Some ads here are bogus and you can tell from the visual that the information in the ad does not match the pics. I find that funny. With me, what you see is what you get...
